This is not a competition or a critique forum so I was surprised to see people coming down so hard on the OP's image.

To my eye it's an interesting nature image by an enthusiast still using and enjoying one of the classic A series cameras. I was aware of some kind of texture effect in the background (probably an artefact of processing) but I would not have drawn attention to it because, as regards the purpose of the image, it's neither here nor there.

I was thinking of posting some recent images taken on a country walk with my A200, but now I'm not so sure.

Some people do more harm than good with their photo edits, and they don't know it themselves. They only look at the small stamp images on their Phone or on these treads here.

His original jpeg is probably ok, but he totally messed up the picture. If I am not allowed to help this photographer by saying this, and always praise all images very politely with words like great, good colors, fantastic composition, then he or she will never make progress.
I think you're the kind of person who always says fantastic things to everything, and it's people like you who prevent a photographer from looking at their work with a positive critical eye. It's you who does more harm than good, we are not little toddlers who post their pictures here.

But I will be glad to praise you with fantastic and great if you eventually dare to post some images here. If you need it ... and I think you turn a mosquito into an elephant, don't take everything so seriously!

I can't see an issue with trying to help someone get the best out of their camera .

I can, see, we are discussing the photo of the OP, so there is still some life into this forum now

Initially it looked like a high ISO was used , but at 125 it should be a lot smoother than this .

I use Lightroom to process my images in , and looking at this it seems to me the saturation has been ramped up and the clarity slider has gone too far .

There's also artifact's ( lines / banding ) on the top left as I look at it .

That's not part of the original scene , and not being across the frame it looks like a processing issue .

The photo looks like it has been edited with the 'sandstone' filter in Photoshop. I tried to recreate this with a photo of myself.

The way I processed it with no filter.

with the 'sandstone' filter PS.

Of course, everyone can do what they like with their photos, no problem with this.
