Re: Fujifilm X-T20 images missing: card or camera problem? // My personal card handling rules

Hi

Like the others, I also vote for the card.

I'm a happy X-T20 owner who has taken about 25k images (50k files - jpeg and raw), all with one and the same SD card.

My personal dos and don'ts - just my habits:

  • I virtually never take the card out of the camera. I always copy my files to my hard disc with a USB cable connection between camera and computer.
  • I never delete photos on the card with the computer, only with the camera's delete function. I always delete *all* photos on the card after file transfer and backup. (But I also often delete single photos during shooting w/o restraints.)
  • I format the card from time to time in the camera. There is a shortcut.

I once had the phenomenon that during a shooting, I suddenly could not display my photos any more on the camera's LCD/EVF. I just went on shooting. Later, at home, it turned out that the photos were all there on the card. This was when I still often deleted parts of my files on the SD card with the computer and kept some files on the card for longer times. After this incident, I formatted the card, since then strictly have followed my rules, and never again had an issue. Of course, no causality is proven in any way. It is only an observation.

BR,

Martin
