Resolution differences between 50-140/2.8 and 55-200/3.5-4.8

Hi all,

I read somewhere that the 50-140 is in fact so much better than the 55-200 in terms of resolving power, that you can achieve an equal level of "zoom" by cropping and upscaling the 140mm image to 200mm and not really losing any resolution in the process.

I don't have either lens so I can't verify this but I thought perhaps someone here might have some experience with this.

If the 140 can compensate for the lack of reach by its superior glass, then this would be another thing to consider when the time comes to buy a long lens.
