Revisiting this. I wonder what Samsung are to you. Aren't they a hardware company that dabbles in software? Non-committal though. RIP Bada, RIP Tizen, RIP NX.
Again comparing different things. You can not compare the 2mm at the widest end, because they do not exist. You can not compare the 2f, because Fuji doesn't have it, when you go to 4f at Fuji, Samsung tops at 2.8f.
A comparison is generally between two different things. 50mm@F2.8 on APS-C is roughly equivalent to using a 75mm lens at F4 on full-frame. You're not getting high subject separation with 50mm at F2.8 or F4 on APS-C.
2.8f vs 4f of the same lens have huge price difference. It is known.
In the case of super-telephoto lenses especially, where you're paying for the privilege of AF with a TC.
As a bike is an alternative to a car. Of course.
I do enjoy cycling
Cameras share specifications. Sony Mavica shares some specifications with A7Riii. I would strongly advice you to start from there.
I've used one of those, with floppy disks, for stills. Maybe I should be looking at Venice if I want to do video. Maybe I can sell some of my organs.
a6xxx cameras have been plagued with serious issues for years. Overheating, no ergonomics whatsoever, small batteries, terrible 1080p and a myriad others. We had plenty of comparisons here.
Overheating can be addressed with physical modification. No ergonomics? At least it's not an RX0.
Most cameras were 16mpxl back then with very limited video capabilities - except GH4, which was even worst in the photography aspect than the GH5 that I specifically mention in the previous post, with even worst low light capabilities.
I still occasionally use my AE-1 and Spotmatic, so in that sense, they are not obsolete.
It sounds like you have a habit of attempting to use consumer cameras for over-demanding work and happened to luck out with the NX series.
NX500 with a PZ or pancake prime can challenge any of those. That is remarkable.
The NX500 simply can't challenge present-day cameras. It's a dead system with limited parts available for repair. Not only that, Samsung left the software underbaked. My NX500 has locked up more times than any of my other cameras, and each time I have had to take the battery out and put it back in for it to resume working. And no, I have not modified the software. Maybe it doesn't like large-capacity SD cards.
I really doubt it, it is not a pro camera per se, so it is not going to make any money anyway. It is more a status symbol I guess. Pretty cool machines, if someone can support his/hers decision buying a compact more expensive than a X-T3 kit, then be my guest. Again, it is a pretty little thing.
X100V is no less serious than a Samsung NX with 30mm pancake.
You are doing fine. We can keep going for ever, still I would be way ahead though. You should start making such conversations with more people here, or make a new thread for your software modifications which I hope will be more productive.
Unfortunate that this is not a software development forum. A7RII is fun to toy with too, having an inbuilt Android subsystem, not available in A7RIII.
Maybe NX was a hox altogether. I am not sure they are real people. What is a "Pentax"?
Pentax made the KP, which has the most ambitious high ISO noise reduction of any APS-C camera. I'm not sure what NX was trying to be, I like Samsung's dumb Pentax K adapter though.
If NX owners exist, and I really doubt that, then certainly some of them frequent this and other forums since the first mirrorless camera ever.
Most people who own cameras don't choose to invest their time in forums.
Among the years, we have the dial issue, but not much else, if those users were real, and we are real too. We can be on a software simulation. Your simulation. NX never existed outside this simulation.
The dial issue isn't isolated to the NX series. WB series too, and probably more. And what about those people with sticky shutters? Dream on dreamer.
Very true, older Canon sensors were hotter than July though. Hot and stuck pixels. Many of them. Oh, so frequent. You could see them. In your videos. And you were wiping. Your screen. Because you wished it was something on. But no. They were stuck pixels. Or hot. Hot hot hot. Hot and stuck pixels. On older Canon sensors.
It is not true that "almost any camera have some of them"
Almost every camera has some hot pixels. When a camera comes off the assembly line, initial hot pixels are generally mapped out. The problem is that cameras have a tendency to develop additional hot pixels and might not map these out, necessitating servicing. I hope you also take into account that the low resolution of older Canon sensors increases the chance of seeing hot pixels in video work. No chance of seeing me on that forum though.
So very true. Proceed with caution.
Or sell off your NX equipment while it still has some value.
It is different to use 1 or 2, and different to use 5 or 6, like we used to. And you do not want your camera to stop working from overheating in person No127
Hundrends when alone with a beautiful scenery is very different with thousands with dozens of relatives and friends on your ear. Just saying.
If I want to take thousands of photos, I use my DSLR.
I can't comment on that. I do not own one.
Being able to create custom menus can't fix Sony's cryptic setting names sadly. Sony also like being inconsistent with menus across different models.

Now you know.
No.
No money for posting for posting on here? At least there are pretty pictures to see.
These are dedicated cheap cine lenses. I am not sure how they came into conversation. These are S35 lenses, not photography ones.
I don't mind manual focus. S35 lenses are fine for photography on APS-C cameras too.
Making such a lens 16mm it would most certainly rise cost/size/weight significantly. They are probably the cheapest "cine" lenses that exist.
Fuji left the 2mm off their MKX so they can announce a new model.
There are thousands, or even tens of thousands less than real cine lenses. I have never used them, but I have used a real cine Fuji - Arri zoom lens which was something else.
Maybe anamorphic is real cine.
Yes, we were talking about the workhorse industry standards and why they are such. You use primes, but a lot of people use zooms. Do you believe zooms are a bad idea? Do you believe that primes is all we need? I would like to hear more about that. Or, not. Your choice.
I think zoom lenses are oversold. The flexibility they provide can be useful, but they rarely approach the optical performance of primes.
Again, going somewhere else. Do you day dream a lot? I linked the correct crop factor, shown why the 3 mm at the wide end are super important (and expensive) and one has to consider various additional crop factors in some cameras too (in 120fps, in various forms of 4K, e.t.c).
Conversely, crop factor does not give a precise equivalence. Even if you go by the specified angle of view, that's likely to shift with focus. It's not surprising that utilizing a high-resolution sensor designed for stills often nets a significant crop for video.
Also, Canon APS-C is X1.6 which makes the 18mm almost a 29-30mm. Disaster!
That's why Canon's ultra-wide zooms are 10mm on the wide end.
Noone ever has been hurt by a mm, they are just for measurement. They are nice. Feed them.
I tried watering my 85mm, but it didn't grow any longer.
The Holy Trifecta is a different thing. The standard zoom is the 24-70. The standard prime is the 50mm.
I don't mix scripture with photography. 24-70mm is near useless for some people. My most used zoom is an "ultra-telephoto", on my DSLR. Horses for courses.
Yes, I do not shoot that much tele and I have other options for that anyway. I would like to see that too, but I wouldn't buy it.
S 300mm would probably be quite expensive anyway. EF lenses would be nice for wide-angle. Where art thou NX-L adapter?
That is why I am waiting for their second edition. No camera, or product, is perfect. That is so true.
Seems it might be a while before Nikon releases a Z6 successor.
Nope. This is history. History can not be speculative, or it is a novel, or script, or a myth, but not history.
History, as an academic pursuit and in practice, is speculative, with a focus on correlative proof. The past is the past.
My other option was the GH4 back then or the 7D. In no way I would have kept the GH4 or the 7D until now! So, that is a fact.
You stuck with Samsung, so I wonder how the GH4 would have failed you.
The new R cameras will be so much better than the previous ones, it will not even be close. Normally, the older product will loose value, in this case it will loose a lot of value.
That really depends on how much the new entrants in the EOS R series cost.
Yes. Cheaper too with better AF.
Asking Panasonic to improve their full-frame AF performance might be too much.
It is nice. Can bring something different on live performances and even in some photo jobs I have one lens on each camera (4 of them), so even if I have 2-3 good fish eye photos from the NX3000, it serves its purpose. I have a thing for real fish eye lenses (not GoPro ones), I use them in many different ways and this particular NX is a real gem.
Fisheyes really shine at night.
Most mirrorless mounts do not have one.
AF fisheye lenses are particularly rare.
Thank you. There are tons of threads on other forums about this subject. Pro Mist filters are very popular these days.
I might get some mist filters one day.
Yes it is! That is why it is good we have so many choices that in general perform admirably. We just had some extra free time this weekend I guessto discuss things further and know each other. Good; good, good, good, good; good.
Though happiness itself is priceless, reaching happiness can come at a price. I think I have this month free.
There are a few very exotic sensors rumored. I would like to hear more. We live in exciting times.
Image Sensors World is always a fun read.
I own the P4K also and the 12-100mm 4f Olympus do-it-all lens (24-200mm, see the 24mm again?!) and I am very happy with the results for video. I could go either way with that, full frame after so long, or maybe go less at m43 and still using the NX cameras mostly for pictures, which is not my main job anyway. We will see. There is a pandemic around the corner, too!
But does it fit in your pocket?
No dSLRs. I have to use the newer 5D from time to time because some production companies still use them, but in general is mirrorless or dedicated video/cine cameras. I like Nikon, just never happened between us. Those Z cameras are quite tempting though.
I know sharpness in 1080 isn't very impressive on Nikon's APS-C DSLRs. I might get a D7500 to try 4K.
Maybe. But if I can't see it while editing them on my 32" monitors or OLED TV I have for checking, then what's the point?
One day you might go to crop a photo and discover a hot pixel that needs editing out.
All in all, NX cameras proved to be very reliable. My first NX300 that was given to a friend still is working flawlessly, and other NX300 I know. Very nicely build also. In my opinion better than the NX500.
NX500 has a less rigid, lower-weight design when compared with the NX300.
There is the known dial issue, which is not a small thing and it is really annoying. That happens slightly on my NX500, but for a year or so, it very seldolmy occurs, which is great for me. It may get worst. Haven't done anything yet to try to fix it because it isn't too annoying. We will see.
Thumb wheel is somewhat unreliable on my NX3000. No idea how common that is.
I take good care of my equipment, and use other cameras for many projects, but these ones are old now, and still very reliable (knock wood!) without any service so far.
I take good care of my equipment too, but one Sony needs servicing
I wish there was a way to be able to use the NX lenses on other cameras. That is the most important issue I believe. Some NX lenses are really unique and/or great to use (S lenses, the fish eye, the 30mm, the 45mm for me).
With lenses, anything is possible.
That's all I guess.
Welcome!
Thanks for the warm reception.
