If you focus less on sarcasm and look at practical uses of powering something on the go, a lot of that confusion will go away

I mean, even if you're someone who doesn't need it, surely you can think of travel photographers and videographers who very clearly have use for it?

I guess I don't have enough imagination. How anything can be easier than carrying and swapping in spare batteries is hard for me to imagine.

Its not about imagination, you know the benefits of USB powered devices, this is 2020 after all... heck, its been the case for ovr 10 years.  The issue with this debate is people who shoot like you do miss literally nothing by having the option, whereas people like me do. People who buy into the M system for a portable travel solution...

A typical M battery lasts for about an hour or two of hybrid shooting. If you're out of the house for 12 - 16h how many batteries will you need? How about cost? an Lp-17 battery is 50 euros!

Consider that no proper videographer would use this camera too shoot such long continuous shots that they can't stop and change a battery.

Hmm im not sure what to make of this, its a $1000 camera, pro videographers have used cheaper cameras for pro work ever since the sony a6000 came out. If im doing an interview type shot, or one takes, the ability to power while you shoot is extremely valuable. Even if i just need that extra juice for 20 minutes, then i can change the battery. Not to mention if your camera is mounted on a tripod, or your shooting in bad weather...

Yea, I get it. You made an overly complicated solution work.

There's nothing simpler than "battery is running out? plug in a cable", its what we do with phones and laptops.

Im sure they have the option to yank out the battery out of their devices out in the open and swap it on the go...but its so much cleaner to plug in a cable.

This guy would have to take off his gloves, unmount the camera, unscrew the tripod plate just to change batteries.

It doesnt take a lot of imagination to see how it would be useful, its a matter of common sense.
