Those are far from the first lenses with a concave front element (I read about an older Zeiss, but I can't remember which)

Carl Zeiss Ultron 50mm 1.8, a lens for the Zeiss Ikon Icarex 35 from the 1960s and 1970s, as written in four of the posts that precede yours.

Maybe Pentax (Asahi) was first after all, their Ultra-Achromatic-Takumar 85mm f4.5 had only 5 elements, all quartz and fluorite, no "regular" glass, and the front element was concave. They say only 25 were made, between 1968 and 1975. They are primarily used for research, for photographing UV and IR light.

There's one on ebay currently. $10K....

Mistral, if you have any insider info on this one, please share!  :))
