Cheers Darrell. From memory, I already had the distortion correction disabled, so I just had to turn the peripheral illumination correction off. I'm not sure whether you have to turn the distortion correction off or not. (For me the question hasn't arisen as it is my habit to correct distortion in Photoshop rather than in-camera.) But you definitely have to turn PIC off if you are going to shoot wider than f/2.8.

Failing to do so won't damage anything, just mess your picture up. If you like, take a shot at f/1.8 with PIC switched on so you can see what the fuss is about.

Does this issue apply to JPEG’s only?  Or are RAW files also affected?  This is important to know.  I usually don’t use any of the in-camera “corrections” as I prefer to manage these in the RAW conversion stage.
