If you really have no idea what you'll encounter, the 27mm is ready for anything - but if you have any indication of all, you'll need to be ready for landscape opportunities, the 18mm may be a better choice.

Hey, I'm looking to pick up a pancake lens for my X-E2, something shallower than my 35mm f2 so that it's a bit more (jacket) pocket-able. Some options I've considered:

1. Fuji 27mm pancake - optics look great, dont like giving up the aperture ring, 40mm might be a little long for an edc camera, expensive

2. Fuji 18mm f2, also great. much cheaper than the 27, bit bigger, older.

3. Adapted leica m / l39 mount lenses. Mostly voigtlanders because of price. specifically the 15mm 4.5 Super-Wide Heliar (slow, very wide) and 21mm f4 Color-Skopar (expensive). I certainly dont mind the manual focus of these lenses as I already shoot a lot of adapted glass.
Any thoughts on this? I don't necessarily need x100 style compactness but I want to be able to shove it in a jacket pocket or bag and not worry about the long lens causing problems.
