Hello,

I am thinking of an EOS M100 for IR Photography as a second body. I`m looking the whole time for a used one. Now I found an offer of an EOS M100 which has been modified for full spectrum for 350 €. Usually the service here in Germany is 250 €. That makes the camera 100 €.

I`m texting with the seller of the camera. It is just the third camera he modified but has example pictures. I was asking him a lot of questions. One was about removing the existing filter and replacing it with one that passes the light from UV to IR. He said that it is not necessary with a M100. But what I read so far is, that the filter needs to be replaced and the autofocus needs to be adjusted again.

For me it feels a little bit of a risk. But the seller seems trustworthy and the price is incredible good. Would you buy it? I feel a little bit insecure.

Some background information here; http://www.astronomiser.co.uk/filters.htm. Andy Ellis' work is very good and a lot less expensive than you've been quoted.

Basically you can do a full spectrum mod by getting rid of the UV/IR cut & colour correction filter and the UV/IR cut & anti-aliasing filter, then shimming the sensor to compensate.  That loses the self-cleaning mechanism as it's part of the anti-aliasing filter.
