"Cut to the Chase" - which Telephoto Lens makes sense

Currently Im still amateur after 10+ years. Have Canon 90D with Canon 100-400 II.

Love the combo and satisfies majority of my needs.

However, when i go to preserves / birding I could do with more reach. Sharpness ( more than cost ) is a factor for me. Budget less than $3000. Willing to use Sigma / Tamron etc.

Any lens recommendations? Or just try to get closer and live with what Im able to capture?

Thank you in Advance!

Stay safe and healthy!!!!
