While the 6 mp sensor is excellent in its ouput, I would have prefered if it had a 10 or 12 mp sensor instead.

So do I. I'd but today the exact same body with 12MP

Where I feel it misses is in the focus precision at least on my model, its a common problem to all SLR's and at that time there werent any firmware with focus adjustment.

It depends on the lense on mine, as long as I stay in single mode. The continuous AF just doesn't work very well.
The 50 and the 35 are always perfect.
the 100-300 non apo is a bit of a focus lottery.
the 70-210 is perfect until 20 feet. Further, it has a back focusing tendency.
the 35-70 is just weird AF. sometimes it's perfect, sometime it front focuses, sometimes it back focuses.
The viewer is quite goof, and even if the lenses are not fly by wire, AF dizengage button is very practical to swith to MF and adjust.

It's just some glass, some silicon and magnesium. It isn't a religion.
