Hi folks

I have a remote shutter release for my EM5.1, the RM-UC1, which is incompatible with the EM1.3 arriving this week. The replacement unit, the RM-CB2, is around £50 on Amazon. Am I correct in thinking that I can use my iPhone for this purpose with the new body and the OI.Share app?

The E-M1ii, iii, x  use a 2.5mm jack for the wired remote control.

It uses the same remote control protocol and connector as Canon and Pentax. Canon calls its remote connector "E3" There are multitudes of cheap E3 remote controls on eBay, any one of which will work on the E-M1iii.

You can also use the Olympus app on you phone as a simple remote trigger, or as a more comprehensive remote control.

I prefer to use a wireless remote trigger plugged into the 2.5mm socket over the smartphone app as I find the ergonomics of a small trigger unit easier than a soft button on a smartphone.
