... I have been using LR all along.
But then recently I started messing around with the Sony A7RIV and the skin tones and over all IQ look freacking amazing and natural with minimal PP and no matter what I do with the Panasonic images they look out of wack. Seriously, no matter what I adjust the images look weird and unnatural. The one that also works pretty good is actually the Nikon but (to me) the Sony wind hands down. Is this a coincidence or what???
The Sony A7Riv sample gallery has plenty of people photos.
What I notice is that the out-of-camera JPEGs are pretty good, but the ACR converted ones are very noisy and too yellow. Possibly you run noise reduction with LR but DPreview does not.
More research is needed... I run Linux so I do not have Lightroom. I'll try Darktable.
This has all the earmarks of a soon-to-be-locked thread, but I'm fascinated by it, though I can't afford an A7Riv.
Yes now I’m becoming more curious and would like to start looking into downloading some of those free software RAW converter trials to see how the files behave. This is all for learning purposes as well because an A7RIV is waaaaaaaay out of my league as well and if I get one it could be in three years maybe.
Again, the camera I am kind of interested in is the cheaper 24MP Panasonic S1, not the Sony.
So if you're interested in the Lumix, why even mention the Sony comparison?
Maybe Lightroom is what has gone down the drain 😬

We're Noct messing around with this review.
Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom impress in a lot of ways, but their noise reduction lags the competition and their lens corrections lack a real-world basis. DxO PureRAW 3 aims to come to their rescue without totally reinventing your workflow!
The Sony ZV-E1 is the company's latest vlogging-focused camera: a full-frame mirrorless camera based the FX3/a7S III sensor, aimed at YouTubers and 'creators' looking to go pro.
The Sony ZV-E1 is a full frame camera targeting YouTubers. Chris and Jordan are Youtubers, what do they think?
Holy Stone produces dozens of low-cost drone models aimed at consumers. We look at the HS710 and HS175D to see if they stack up to other sub-250g offerings. Are these secretly great or more like toys?
Above $2500 cameras tend to become increasingly specialized, making it difficult to select a 'best' option. We case our eye over the options costing more than $2500 but less than $4000, to find the best all-rounder.
