If tripod is not thing and more important is fast work (e.g. hiking with group who does not want to wait for someone taking photos) and/or long hikes then mk3 has advantages.

Starry sky af may also be decisive factor.

You all do know that the mk ii has HiRes mode with a tripod, just not Hand Held hi res.
