New K100Y + 3 Lenses

Interesting video and worth watching, but they're still sandbagging quite a bit. From my own list of things to watch for

• perhaps an updated release date range estimate (this summer, this fall, etc.)

hopefully still in 2020, but apparently no chance for late summer or early fall.

• some indication of the function of the unlabeled back button

Nothing

• some indication of AF changes

Said to be an important area for improvement, but no specifications or examples (really wasn't expecting any). Just a promise that we'll be pleased.

• anticipated price range (?)

Nothing

• a definitive answer to the fixed/movable back screen question

Nothing. The back focus-point joystick was redesigned since the September prototypes, and the OVF sticks out on the back of the camera farther than the K-3's or K-1's, but nothing else specific about the body. There will be a bottom battery grip, which sounded like a simultaneous launch item. But that wasn't specifically promised.

• some increased specification info (resolution, sensor chip, fps, etc.)

OVF magnification should be 1.05, matching K-1. Promise of specification dribble(s) on Pentax website from time to time prior to formal launch announcement. No mention of any hybrid/VF overlay features.

• teaser(s) about some other new feature(s) that cannot be guessed at based on the body appearance alone

I didn't hear any.

Overall: Pentax still playing it very close to the chest.

They'd like to co-launch the K-next with the new D-FA*16-50 F/2.8, but it sounded like that would be an unlikely all-the-stars-aligned long shot. More likely that the new 16-50 won't be ready until 2021. But one is coming--that's welcome news.
