JPG colour rendition in newer Panasonics?

My question is: if I were to grab a G85, would I notice an image quality bump? Or is it closer in quality to my GX7 and the bigger bump would be going to the latest 20mp ones? Framed another way, is the G85 closer in image quality to a GX7 or a GX9?

The JPG colour rendition in the newest Panasonics is supposed to be improved? (eg. GX9, G95) Better skin tones and the like?

I haven't seen much discussion of that, but it might be another aspect of image quality worth considering/investigating?

I actually have a G95, but I haven't had a chance to use it "for real" yet, lockdowns and all... so I can't comment on the JPG colours myself. It could be a long time...

By the way I upgraded from G85 because... G95 has all the same good stuff as G85 (especially the ultra-quiet mechanical shutter), plus:

  • Yes, 20MP without AA was a factor!
  • High speed video
  • Better JPG colours (hopefully)
  • In-camera USB battery charging
  • Eye-sensor-activated economy mode that doesn't require rear screen open and "info" screen
  • Faster max flash synch

It also added "My Menu" and Live Composite features but I don't know if I'll find those useful or not. Didn't go for discount G9 offers, due to: size, weight, shutter noise, and cost of spare batteries (already had plenty of spares for G95, from G85 and FZ series!)
