Re: One lens only setup, 24-70mm 2.8 or super zoom

Personally? I have the older version (EF28-70) and it stays stored away. Why? Not enough range for me. I bought it for a 400D and did not like it. When I switched to FF I still did not like it. To old or worth anything to sell so it stays stored away.

I have a EF24-105L that lives on my 5D2. It is just about perfect for me. Good focal range and F4 is good enough for most things I shoot. When pressed I do carry a EF35F2IS and EF85F1.8 in the bag for lower light "just in case".

Given where most of my photos end up being used, I could opt for a 'super zoom' as I'm not looking to win any awards or get paid for my images. I'd rather carry a single lens that does mostly everything then a bag full of lenses. In the end a lot less weight.
