I mainly notice this on frequent and constant recomposition, like portraits. Looking through the EVF, the freeze would be noticeable and put me off balance - when I'm used to a DSLR. I guess I will get used to this.

Yeah, you’ll get used to this (I don’t even “see” it any more).

I was thinking that if you were having problems following a subject (like for action shots), then what I like to do is use the back LCD.  You still get that little hang, but I find it’s a lot easier following action and maintaining situational awareness with the camera out in front of you.
