They may not be conversions. They can be CGI images created using real data about relative distances between celestial bodies, colors, luminosity and other data (as made by Hipparcos).
Some 3D images of celestial bodies are obtained from real pair of images obtained at long interval in time. An example is the stereo image of the Veil Nebula , obtained from a pair of observations made by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope in 1997 and in 2015 (!).
