Re: Where Can I get the Canon EOS utility for a 400D ?
I now have it. But I've lost track of where I got it from. Had a couple of false starts - things I downloaded that didn't work - one didn't go at all, as I remember and another said not compatible with this camera (the 400D) but I've now got a version that works fine.
I like it. It saves me pulling the card out all the time and I don't like pulling CF cards because of the myriad of tiny pins - I've had a couple of card readers get bent pins and become useless and I'm always worried about it happening inside the camera slot.
It saves them in day by day folders and I find that convenient, too.
I was thinking of maybe starting a thread about organising your photo downloads.
Because with numerous Canon cameras all making photos with same naming conventions I think, and numerous CF and other cards producing yet another series with potentially the same numbers it gets to be quite a trick keeping them all apart.
And that's another benefit of the eos utility. When I upload manually from the card I have to go through checking to see how much of that card has been uploaded so far...... the utility does that for me.
So it's good. I'm glad to have it.
And now my photos are 'signed', too, with the owner label of my choice, which is what I first wanted.
p.s. so , yes, if anyone has good ideas for photo organising I'd be happy to hear. Inclusion of a methodology for the conversion from .CR2 to .JPG, too, that's part of the problem, ease of doing that and disciplined storage of the produced .jpg's.
I find I can't just hand the task over to digital photo professional. I have to select the photos I want to convert and then if I've selected unwisely it'll protest about my selection leading to saving with identical filenames. And it won't proceed.
So just that little step in the process could use some facilitation.
