Agree, the whole point of the GX series, I thought, is to be the smaller, more nimble option. My main body is the G9, but I had a GX7 and have a GX9.

Nope, the GX9 grip is a backward step from the GX7, IMHO. I like the camera, but find it odd to hold. That may be because I loved the GX7, and am comfortable with the bigger grip on the G9.

Even if they don't repeat the moronic battery blocking design of the current add-on grip, anything that screws to the bottom of the camera will inevitably add to its size. I use a 3rd party 3D printed grip on my GX9, but I'd rather it had a decent grip out of the box.

It adds to the height of the camera but it's very light weight. The one I received fits fine and has held up to a year or so of regular use. For me it definitely makes the GX9 much more secure and comfortable to hold.

You'll find some other similar 3D printed designs if you search for 'GX9 grip' on eBay. I've seen one where the base is shaped for arca swiss mount plate compatibility, but I haven't tried that myself.
