What is the closest in price FF camera? Canon's website doesn't help.

You can go to B&H website and check the current prices.

The current lowest Canon FF models are 6D Mark II (USD 1200) and RP (USD 1000).

Also, is the T6s the same camera but cheaper? Specs look the same

I say this in a friendly manner: For users like you and me, the T6i, T6s, T7i, 77D and T8i will be roughly the same. You said you wanted a camera "better than yourself." You also said that you "take snapshots" and "have no artistic talent" . Any of those cameras will be way better than you being capable of pushing them to the limits.

I suggested the T8i because it is the newest model that includes the latest 24MP sensor and DIGIC processor. The specs only say 24MP APS-C sensor which does not tell you much in terms of new improvements. I believe this latest 24MP sensor is better than any of the 24MP sensors used in the earlier 80D, 77D, T7i, T6s and T6i.

You were wondering about "DR". The T8i should be able to help you with that.

I looked at the 90D - it s somewhat more money but still not much better?

I wonder what you are going to do with all of the 32 mega pixels provided by the 90D. Anyway, if you have the money and the time to take full advantage of the 90D, please go for it. (My GAS eyes have been fixating on the 90D, but I don't think I will buy one.)
