limitations ive had w t4i are

the crop makes it hard to get wide angles

when I shoot wide dynamic range I blow out highlights if I don’t bracket

The 80D sensor and those used in the latest Canon cameras are quite good, especially the 32MP sensors in the 90D and the EOS M6 Mark II. I think the new 24MP sensor T8i, plus the latest DIGIC processor, will be excellent, even better than the 80D sensor.

Please remember that your T4i is quite old now, so is my 7D which was “a big deal” for some years in the past.

For wide angles on APS-C, I find the EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM quite good, albeit rather slow. It is a known fact that Canon’s EF-S and EF-M lenses are good, but not competitive.

In brief, if you stay with Canon, I suggest: T8i (for smallish expense) or 6D II plus some EF lenses (for bigger expense).

Good luck.

thanks - that is my thought (as of now )

Glad I can be of some help.
