After 8 years, no IMO. Even if you could, it would still remain a 8 years old camera. In eight years, there has been a big leap in image quality for newer cameras. I am stuck also with an old 7D and even my new iPhone beats it on colors!

Just to make sure, have you tried removing the CF (or SD??) card from it? Could be defective. Also, and I don’t think it applies for your camera but older cameras also had a CMOS battery. Don’t know from which model they made them non removable.

There is always something to shoot/snap, you just have to know how to do it and have the right gear.
