Thoughts on the perfect scan - is it that important?

To some people , yes.

Yes a great scan in important.

Unless your photographic look is designed to be  rough and random and unreplicable , what is the point of attempting  trick content,  matching it with the perfect kit, original medium  (in this case film)  ideal processing , drying , sleeving ...only to  settle to be rendered  in a sloppy scan?

Many questions  on DPR forums would benefit  from being presented within context.

If you are a hobbiest shooting one off found content  by accident  who wants a reference scan for FB then  why would well executed scans be a concern?

If you are a professional  whose goal is to provide the highest quality file possible to the client paying your daily rate a bit of attention to detail is appropriate.
