It's with the contrast and color quality that this lens really shines. It's such a patently obvious difference that I can see it just on my camera screen without even having to take any pictures.

That was one of the strengths of the 14-42-II , colour was always a strong point , better than the 14-140-II and maybe even the 12-35 F2.8 ..

It`s amazing how little is said of colour rendition differences in lens tests

I will also add that I like the rendering of this lens a lot more than my Canon 18-55 kit lens as well. The difference here is that I only used that lens on a Canon body. But still, I could never get the same quality out of that lens I could out of the 12-60. It’s  not a purely scientific test because I didn’t use the same body for both lenses. When I got my new puppy, I just tried every lens I had, and this lens produced my favorite results, bar none. I just felt the results from this lens sparkled.

I also liked the results I got from this lens better than the Sigma 60mm, although based on objective tests, that lens is better than the 12-60 at 60mm in almost every measurable way. But it’s possible that at the wider angles, the 12-60 is better than the Sigma 60mm.

This lens definitely punches above its price.
