Re: Canon Pwershot G15

As to your "mediocre" rating for "Low light (without flash)", would agree it does when comparing G15 images to the DSLR's you have, or newer 1"-Type Sensor cameras.

IMHO the G15 low light images are quite good for the 1/1.7" sensor, especially if one shots RAW.

1600 ISO: Little soft due to a quick grab shot handheld @ 1/20th

As to flash photography at least the G15 has a hot shoe one can attach a small external flash. The 270 EX/ EXII small/ light enough not be to cumbersome when used with the G15; also has a tilting head and diffuser.

Back in 2012 when looking at enthusiasts compact cameras, narrowed choices down to G15, LX7, and the RX100.

For myself the G15 provided all the items I wanted in a enthusiasts compact camera; i.e., zoom range and fast max apertures, viewfinder (though somewhat poor/ tunnel optical) when bright lighting conditions makes difficult to use the rear LCD, hot shoe, pocketable size/ weight, etc.

So far for myself, only the new G5 X II only 1"-Type Sensor camera I would consider as a replacement for my G15.

Cheers,
Jon
