I have used similar settings on my Olympus cameras for several years. I think that the Tone Curve is the main setting as it can make the difference between Black and White and Black and Grey.

One thing though, he mentions that the white balance is not important. I disagree. Adjusting the WB can make a little or a lot of difference. Try manually changing the K setting. Usually, though, I have mine set to Auto.

Would love if you could share more about settings that you've liked.

I'd like to find something for my Olympus bodies for b/w since I much prefer the Olympus interfact to the Panasonic's.

These are the settings I have as a custom setting on my EM5II. I have it on the Mode dial.

Monotone

Sharpness = 0

Contrast = -1

Filter = Orange

Tone = Neutral

Graduation = Normal

Tone Curve S = 0, M = +1, H = +5 (not all models have the Midtone setting e.g. my EP5)

Auto ISO; Auto WB; A = 0, G = 0; LSF+RAW

With these settings it will be very easy to blow the highlights, so you must have the "Blinkies" turned ON.

From the SCP, you can change some of these settings such as the filter colour.

Let me know how you find these settings.
