Getting bright flashes with aperture changes on fast lenses

I just received a new Nikkor Z 20mm f/1.8, and I've noticed that as I vary the aperture between f1.8 and f5.6, which I can do quickly with the ring on the lens, the viewfinder flashes brightly multiple times before settling down to a normal view. The rear LCD does this as well.

I thought it might be a lens problem, but then I went back to my Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8, and it happens there, too. Now I don't know if it's something I've just never noticed, or if there is something wrong with my Z7 body.

Can someone please try using your Z7 body with a fast lens and moving quickly through the fast apertures while looking through the viewfinder, or watching the rear LCD? Does the image flash brightly while you do this?

Thanks!
