Heck I even went a full round thinking I should get the M6II and the 55-200. But even then I would be giving into GAS, and I reasoned out that were I to get the M6II and telezoom, that once I got the R5 there is that chance of not using the latter much. And maintaining two systems is something that can be done, but I would rather invest in quality glass than spread the cash around,
Just to stir up your GAS a little. 🙂 M6ii + adapter with 100-400 Lii and/or 70-200 2.8Lii. Really excellent combinations. Then, you have glass that you can use throughout the system.
Ya, I know. And I thought about that as well.
But I reasoned out the following. I want to get the R5. I assume it will be around 3500-4500. Depending on canon’s mood. If it comes out at 40MP +, and I am hoping for that + to at least give me 20 MP in crop mode. And combined with the EF 70-300, that would allow me to get into the genre (I think), with the aim of later getting the RF 100-500 to pair with it.
If I get the M6II and a lens you suggest that would pretty much cover the cost of the R5, and since I will get the R5 regardless.... kind of a waste of money.
My wife and I had planned on going to Australia this year, so the costs involved this year for gear and the trip.... just don’t want to go too much in excess. Still prefer to keep just one system for now. After all, of I get the R5, I might still keep the R since it’s resale value will be quite low. So I would already have 2 bodies.
