Disadvantage of using extended ISO / 100 ISO on Panasonic?
1

Hi,

I'm trying to get a better understanding of the Extended ISO on Panasonic bodies.

Wondering if there is a disadvantage of using ISO 100? I know it is apparently not a native iso setting, but looking at e.g. photonstophotos, it looks like the Dynamic Range is higher actually, so why would you not use it by default? There must be a disadvantage,  otherwise there would be no point in having the option?

Is there a noise advantage as well in using ISO 100?

As a side question, I am curious as to what actually happens in the camera when you select the Extended ISO? The manual doesn't seem to say anything about it, other than that it extends the range.

Thanks!

Chris
