I'm not saying the lens is bad, but it is a FACT that the lens behaves this way with regards to out of focus fringing, because that's simply how it's designed. You won't see it in all images, and it's good that you're happy with the lens.

There is green in front of the plane of focus, and purple behind the plane of focus.  There's no denying it.  It is a FACT.  That's how the lens is designed.

A Zeiss OTUS, for example, would be better corrected.  The RF 1.2L, IMO, is even better corrected than the OTUS.  Good job Canon!
