I'm in the same boat and decided to rent the RF85 F1.2 and EF 85F1.4. However, that trip where I was going to test it all out has been cancelled and I'm not sure what the plan is. My thought was the roughly $100 it was going to cost me would be worth it in helipng me decide.

Have you though about renting them? I think having and using them both on your camera will show you the handling characteristics. If that doesn't shed some light than surely a session review in LR or DPP will. Sure, I'd like to save the money, but if I get my monies worth I am not opposed to dropping the cash for the RF. I think most if not all will agree the RF is the better lens and will yield better images. Now the question really comes down to how much better, and what are you willing to pay for that (few?) % improvement?

Renting is always a good recommendation and the rental cost for both for a week will be about $180 ( I went and looked it up). Right now though I have no real subjects to use it on to do an appropriate comparison. Almost pulled the trigger yesterday on a used EF 85/1.4L IS in mint condition but I decided its more important to get threw this latest crisis than to add a piece of gear I might not really get to use for more than a month. Both will be available still on the other side and I still have my Sony 85 GM I can shoot with if I have the need before then.
