I would add that the form of the GX 8 was and still is desirable to many users. To me it represents a vote for the rangefinder style of the product.

There being no logical need for the SLR style which is neo classical if it were architecture. It is not so old.

Reviving an old thread with a tarnished title is not a gross problem. Not if it is relevant, adds value, and encourages use of the camera you have over the one in your crystal ball.

Whoops, that surely defeats the wisdom of the new has got to be better. Look no further, if you are budget constrained than the overlooked older yet great products. It feels good.

Love means never having to say you're sorry. Doing a search, call it excavation and embelisshment of the archives. Not so bad, Not gauche. Beats the calls for advice over which strap to buy. Oops, sorry strappers.

I agree. Never quite sure why the forum etiquette police complain about reviving old threads - many of them contain a lot of useful information that is otherwise effectively lost. There are always people too anxious to block things. And no, the search facility is not always effective. You have to enter the right search term. Anyway, the appeal of these forums is partly that you stumble across useful knowledge that you were not actively looking for.

Amen. To those who OMG, alert all of us that it is an older/oldish? - thread commented upon,  I call them the Ahah Gotcha Society, the AGS are easily amused at found gotchas. and deride us by indirection for not noticing it is NOT  the latest thread as if we need to be kept alert to dates, and not  the latest hot skinny on neck strap choices or our very worst camera buys of all time, hot stuff for cold days with the kids

.

Why chat about a camera that is out of production indeed? Is it not back catalogue and passe/.

Takes me six months to get familiar with the menu. Along comes a firmware upgrade a year later. A new Mk !! iteration in de facto terms often.

( New poop--I called RRS for an Arca Swiss GX 8 plate was told the camera was not popular enough for them to craft one. aAcompany called Acra Tech had one that fit good.. .)

I love 'em all, the long and the short n the tall, tho m43 Panasonics = current squeeze.
