Re: What Nikon camera for old manual lenses?

You aren't restricted to Nikon for these old lenses if the lenses have an aperture ring. In fact even for G lenses adapter rings exist for the aperture.

You will get best value for money from a Sony A7 which you could get for $400 now. I don't know of a reason why a particular type of old lens won't adapt on it, but if it won't then somebody will tell us

A Sony A7 II with sensor stabilisation might cost $600.

An old Canon 5D which you could get for $200 also adapts Nikon lenses, but you don't get the advantage of mirrorless for focusing, and for the focus confirmation dot I think you need a chip in the adapter, though it only costs $5-10 more.

A Nikon Z series would be an unnecessarily expensive way of doing it, and a Nikon Z will not know an AI lens from Adam just like a Sony wouldn't.
