Highest quality fog

I am working on a composite and wanted to add fog to the image. Most of what I see are fog composites you just overlay on the image and change the blending mode....but the images of fog I am compositing don't really look good. Do any of you have PS actions or other ways (maybe a 3rd party, standalone program) of adding a realistic looking fog to your images?

You can also download free fog brushes from BrushEezy and others.

I have Lightroom 6 and you can use the local adjustment tools except for the brush in conjunction with the free Dehaze plugin, You can make the fog look more patchy by using erase with low flow and maximum feather.You can use these tools with colour overlays to create all sorts of lighting effects
