Re: Vehicle for Wildlife & Nature Travel Photography

It doesn’t sound like you’re in the market for any RV or even a small mobile skid on a truck. That’s OK.

Buy a Subaru Outback or Crosstrek, or similar; and call it a day. But in my experience the distance a passenger car can go vs a standard SUV (any model) can travel isn’t that far.

And the only vehicle that can go the last mile is a true high clearance specially purposed 4 x 4 Jeep or truck. And you probably don’t want to put gas in it, drive it very far or sleep in it...or pay for it.

If you’re fit, consider driving close, then backpacking/hiking, mountain biking or mountain e-biking to get closer.

Tent camping/car camping mixed with periodic stops at RV Parks to shower and do laundry (they often have tent areas with grass and shelters) and resupply is great, if that lifestyle is you. This option is also more free "to tryout".
