I think you took this shot too close to the water reservoir Imho. As for the halos, I think I would lighten the top edges of the mountains and lighten the darker halos with a lightening weak paint brush. I would also add a little detail in the area to the left of the tower and along the bottom edge.  Maybe straighten the tower and the fence post on the right edge as well.

You may want to consider subscribing to Adobe Creative Suite which includes Light Room as well for around $10.00 a month, or buy an older version of CS 4, 5 or 6 on Ebay.  Just mske sure it is legit.
