I am sure if Sony had gone for the 2/3" sensor like Fuji in their X10 rather than the 1" sensor cameras would be a lot more compact and affordable and perfectly usable.

If you want a little toy sensor, that's what phones are for. Real cameras have real sensors - i.e., a decent size like, for example, the G9X.

My G9X overlapped a bit with my Casio ZR5100 wihich has a 1/1.7" sensor but it has a dotty 19mm equivalent wide angle and I found the short zoom on the G9X a bit restricting. If I had the resources I would have kept both but the Casio does a good job and is super fast in its HDR. I bought a SX620 as a pocket super zoom and it does OK. 600mm in a tiny £149 camera and the low light is not as bad a people make out. Pixel peeking these cameras is user error not camera error.

Not an easy decision but these comments about toy sensors, real cameras, real sensors and decent size are rather unimaginative and as you up the sensor size there is always a downside so all this my sensor is bigger than yours swaggering does leave me rather cold.

I would hate this forum to turn in to 1" or enter at your peril like another I can think of.
