Re: New Insta360 3d camera One R - 1 inch sensor twins

How delightful to find this thread of 3D creators. I hear many sentiments which I would echo (eg the isolation of VR versus shared experience of display/projection 3D). I just wanted to share two experiences which may be helpful for previous comments:

I have been shooting with the EVO for some months now, in tandem with the GoPro 3+ on hybrid mounts for better inter ocular distance. I have to say the EVO Has struck me as stunning, but can understand the issues with artifacts and 180 perspective.

I have found that having very fast approved micro SDHC cards seems to deal with artifacts. Would have to do a qualitative and quantitative test to be sure, but that write speed seems to make the difference.

because of the high resolution of the square frame, I have found I can crop 1920x1080 out of that for projection (in a recent video installation, screens were 16.5 feet wide, and the picture held up very well). Linear subject matter will have curved edges as the image is quite wide angle, but I would not notice this when the setting is organic versus manufactured (ie no hard straight lines). So the EVO has offered the versatility of recording VR -ready material as well as HD flat projection material at the same time... Very versatile.

I find the colour balance and exposure are very good. And perfectly matched between lenses, something I found did not happen with synced GoPro 3+ cameras. Amazing quality for such a tiny package.

I would not have known of the 3D option being considered for the new camera if it wasn't for this thread. Thanks for sharing, and I sure look forward to what insta360 comes up with in 3D.
