I live in Northeast Tennessee now after leaving Long Island.  Although we don't see wild extremes like you do in Colorado, we see some.  I've been here 2 1/2 years and since I got here, there has been near record rainfall every year.  The people around here keep telling me that all this rain is unusual but it's been the norm for me since I got here!  As far as snow goes, they average about nine inches a year.  Nothing sticks to the roads even when it snows for hours.  But two winters ago, my wife and I traveled back to Long Island for a week and while we were gone, there was a snow storm here that left 12 inches on the ground.  Everything here comes to a grinding halt for any accumulation on the roads, imagine what that much snow did.
