Lenses these days have a lot more motors and electronics than they used to. I think you'll find that they don't last like the older ones and in time won't hold their value either.

Compared to digital bodies they're nevertheless doing quite well. My three four-thirds SHGs are an exaggerated example but even the 300 Pro, given the recent $400 price bump, would fetch me at least 80% of what I paid for mine three years ago.

Forty years hence they'll be elaborate paperweights but I can safely say that's not going to be my problem.
