I've had the camera for several years and never knew it could show blown out highlights. But when I look at the instruction book on page 113, I see that it can.

When the photo you just took is on the screen, you need to press the info button.  This changes the screen and shows you a smaller photo on the screen along with the histogram and other shooting data. In that smaller rendition of the photo you can see the blown out highlights flashing.

I like how it works better on my DLSR.  After you take the picture, you just look at the screen and see that the blown out highlights are flashing.  You don't have to press the info button.

Now that I know that it can do this, I will use that feature instead of just guesstimating.
