AF Tracking 3.0 Observations

So now tracking in AFC Auto area:

Method 1:

Press OK or tracking assigned Fn button to activate tracking box.

Half shutter press or AF On locks the box onto the subject; box releases and resets to the center when finger lifts off shutter release or AF on button

Method 2 (original):

Press OK or assigned Fn button to activate tracking box.

Press OK a second time to track, Press OK a third time to reset. When you activate the tracking by pressing OK the only way to release it is to press OK again. This is the original Z6 tracking method and needs to be unlearned!

Assigning an Fn button to AF tracking only gives you the benefit of a one button toggle between tracking and auto mode instead of toggling between OK to enter tracking mode and Minus Loupe button to exit. This does not seem particularly useful considering the other features you can assign to Fn.....

Do I have all this right? Any thoughts on the 3.0 Implementation?

It is a big improvement in implementation and performance but I would have liked the AF on or the center joy stick button to be programmable to the tracking function instead of just Fn1 or 2. It would be nice to have the option to disable the original tracking method, to avoid confusion. The new custom button option is not such a big deal.
