I have an SL-1 and for whatever reason I bought an SL-2 a couple of years ago. I mainly use them with an 18-135mm lens. Great, lightweight combination compared to my 5D4 and 24-105 lens. However, I am considering getting one of the SL-'s converted to IR and need to be able to touch focus the LCD screen in live view because IR focuses a little different than "normal" and wanted to make sure that both models did have this feature.

I have both (sold the SL2) and both have touch to focus & touch to capture function. SL2 is a bit more snappier in AF acquisition and Servo tracking in Live View mode.

SL3 has an advantage of "Spot" AF point over SL2 in LV, which makes precise AF placement easier. If you use flash, without the central hotshoe pin in SL3, you are limited to only Canon and a few Godox flash.

SL3 can do CRAW & also have 10 frame buffer of 14-bit raw, vs just 5 in SL2.

SL3's default picture styles are softer than SL2 so you may need to bump up the sharpness a notch or two (for SOOC shots).

Also, SL2 seems to have a weaker AA filter, because even in RAW, I find SL2 files to be a tad sharper than SL3's when pixel peeping.

Any other specific questions, let me know.

Also, I'd appreciate comments about the real world difference or lack of between the SL-2 and SL-3.

Thanks!!!
