New lens vs new body

I’ve been filming action sport (mostly mountain biking) for 2 and a bit years now on a Nikon d3200 with an 18-55 kit lens and I’m trying to decide whether to buy a new 70-200 fixed aperture lens and a gimbal or a Sony a6500. I’ve been looking at the Sony for a while now mostly for its stabilisation, higher frame rate capabilities and tracking focus. However something that’s been bothering me about my Nikon is the lack of detail, sharpness and depth in my shots and I’ve noticed the Sony isn’t much better for this with the lens I could afford,  which is why I’m looking at a new lens for my d32 as I know this will improve all of these. Just can’t decide, any advice?
