You forgot to mention that canon was put in mirrorless mode and can't use the evf

No sports shooter shoots with just the LCD screen on..

Also the price... It's almost double the amount of the A92 that is still better than the 1dx3 for stills sport shooting

Thats not the point for me. It shows the current state of the art of the Canon DPAF system in the best possible flagship camera from Canon. It is advertised as being on par with the OVF system with even 20fps and eye detect etc.

Sony's A9 represents technology introduced in 2017 and Canon is now able to almost match that. Sony will leapfrog this again, nevertheless a great effort from Canon.

It shows, too, that we can't expect miracles in the R5, which likely doesn't have the sensor readout speed and processing power the 1dxiii has.
