D5 Vs D850 low light?

Hi,

A little confused about some info regarding "low light performance".

D5 is universally praised as excellent, but then on many metrics D850 is better?

Plus due to larger Megapixel D850 files have to be downsampled to be compared fairly to D5 files, and that is not clearly taken into account or it is in some of the comparisons?

Looking at DPReview image quality comparison tools is a little confusing. The regular photos D5 looks less noisy, but the color chart images the D5 is much worse.

Would appreciate some 'learned' opinions and maybe more clear comparisons.

If D5 is better, is it a 1/3 stop? a full stop? improvement? Is it noticeable? Most sites say 1/3 or less change in any direction is not noticeable in every day use.

Also, what exactly is "better"? Is it strictly a measure of noise at equivalent ISO? or is there more to it.

Thank you
