This sounds obvious when you say it, but when you look at how both companies and enthusiasts obsess over gear/specs/performance it seems like this gets lost. I've always said for some it seems photography exists to serve gear rather than the other way around.

Ironically for me the images that have the most value for me these days are phone videos and pictures of my toddler. Those crappy IQ files are the ones I look at everyday and derive joy from... not the high res "keepers" from my ILCs. I'm not quite at the point where I want to sell off all my ILC stuff but I've really been getting very minimal use out of it. It's just about worth having it for when I need it though.

And of course what you do with photos says a lot about how you value them. I have basically stopped posting on social media for a wide variety of reasons. But Thom's talk of value is interesting
