Lens Noob - Looking for sharper, less edge-distorted image
1

Hi! I'm a complete beginner when it comes to lenses. I've been using a Sony a5000 with the lense it came with (3.5-5.6/16-50) to shoot top-down videos of my desk for a few years. I find when I zoom in, the picture quality is much nicer, clearer and overall more appealing. When zoomed out, the edges are fuzzy and distorted. I'm wondering why this is, and what kind of lens would be a good upgrade for me (or even a camera upgrade?). I usually film a white blank page most while I draw or write on it.

Thanks, and sorry in advance for not knowing much about lenses and the proper terminology!
